Washington — February 16, 2010 — Hunton & Williams LLP is pleased to announce Sergio F. Oehninger was promoted to Counsel, effective February 13. As a member of the firm's securities practice, Oehninger focuses on complex civil litigation, with an emphasis on insurance coverage and reinsurance disputes.

Hunton & Williams corporate and securities litigators handle securities class actions throughout the United States on behalf of issuers, underwriters, and corporate officers and directors. The firm also represents public and private companies, officers and directors, committees of boards of directors, and controlling stockholders in connection with mergers and acquisitions, shareholder derivative and other corporate litigation matters, and SEC and other regulatory investigations.

Based in the firm's McLean office, Oehninger is active in the civic affairs of the Washington metro area. He has served as vice president of the Hispanic Bar Association of the District of Columbia and actively serves on the Association's judicial and bar leadership Endorsements Committee. Oehninger sits on the Board of Advisors and Development Committee of the Esperanza Education Fund, which awards college scholarships to immigrant students in the Capital region.  He also has provided  pro bono counsel to a nonprofit program with the goals of combating gang problems in Northern Virginia and organizing charity drives benefiting children in developing countries.

Oehninger earned an undergraduate degree from The College of William & Mary and his law degree from The George Washington University Law School.  He is a member of the Virginia State Bar and District of Columbia Bar. He also is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Eastern District of Virginia, Western District of Virginia, District of Columbia, and District of Colorado. He is a native Spanish speaker, having resided in Uruguay for a decade.
