MIAMI — June 13, 2013 — Hunton & Williams LLP continues the expansion of its global corporate practice, adding Nathan J. Kutt as counsel to its financial institutions section. Kutt, based in Miami, has more than a decade of experience with bank regulatory matters, capital and acquisition strategies, operational issues, and controlling and passive private equity investments. Prior to joining Hunton & Williams, Kutt most recently served as General Counsel for BankCap Partners, a private equity firm that invests exclusively in the US financial services sector. Kutt also previously served on several community bank board of directors and as General Counsel to Mercantil Commercebank, N.A.
"Nathan's tenure on bank boards; specialized training and compliance experience with the Bank Secrecy Act, anti-money laundering controls, and Patriot Act requirements; and M&A, capital raising, and strategic planning efforts for financial institutions add further depth of service for our clients," says Peter Weinstock, co-head of the financial institutions section.
Fernando Alonso, chairman of the firm's Latin American practice group, adds "Nathan's presence in Miami will be important for our established practice representing domestic and foreign banks on inbound and outbound activities and in advising Central and South American investors in the US market."
Kutt holds a master of laws degree in banking and financial services law from Boston University, a law degree from William Mitchell College, and an undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell.
The firm's financial institutions lawyers provide corporate and regulatory representation to independent community banks, their owners, and holding companies; small to large regional and national financial institution franchises; privately held money-center banks; and foreign banks.
