Leveraging his extensive technical experience, Matt’s practice focuses on patent, trademark, and trade secret litigation and computer forensics investigations.

Matt is counsel in the firm’s Washington office, where he manages the day-to-day conduct of complex patent, trademark, and trade secret litigation in US district courts and administrative review proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board of the US Patent and Trademark Office. His practice also includes advising on IP-related aspects of corporate transactions, prosecuting and managing patent and trademark portfolios, and leveraging his technical knowledge in cyber investigations. Matt previously worked as a software developer in the federal government and industry and is a certified commercial airplane pilot.

Matt is admitted to practice before the US Supreme Court, the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the US District Courts for the District of Columbia, Eastern District of Virginia, Eastern District of Texas and District of Maryland, and the US Patent and Trademark Office.

  • Represents a Fortune 500 chemical company in a series of related patent, antitrust, and business tort cases involving flexographic printing technology.
  • Advises toy and home goods retailer on trademark, trade dress, and related IP issues in connection with new product development and package designs.
  • Represented a European API supplier in Hatch-Waxman pharmaceutical patent litigation involving chiral platinum-based compounds.
  • Represents leading national insurance company in a variety of intellectual proper matters, including brand protection counseling, trademark infringement and dilution litigation, and trade secret litigation.
  • Represented a leading manufacturer of hybrid TV tuner products in twenty-patent infringement litigation against a direct competitor, achieving a successful resolution before trial.
