On Tuesday, June 2, 2009, the D.C. chapter of the Women's Networking Forum hosted "Hot Shots!" an evening of fun and photography at the National Museum of Women in the Arts. The evening included guided tours of two very different photo exhibits: Picturing Progress: Hungarian Women Photographers, 1900-1945 and Fashion Forward: Photographs by Louise Dahl-Wolfe. The photography exhibits were nicely juxtaposed with a third exhibit featuring the gowns of Mary McFadden, entitled: Mary McFadden: Goddesses. The highlight of the evening was a presentation by Georgetown University lecturer, Vickie Fruehauf, M.F.A., who discussed techniques for taking a great photograph. The evening was a refreshing change for Washington business women, offering both an artistic and everyday perspective on photography.

This fall, all of the Women's Networking Forum chapters supported National Domestic Violence Month.  On Wednesday, November 7, the D.C. chapter teamed up with Suited for Change and had a wonderful evening of socializing at Max Mara's beautiful new Chevy Chase store -- and its affiliated restaurant, Famoso. Clients and friends attended this fun night with private shopping, models, and a packing seminar. The chapter collected gently used business suits and accessories, and a portion of the evening's sales benefited Suited for Change.

On Tuesday, June 5, 2007, the Washington chapter of the Women's Networking Forum hosted a leadership discussion and reception at the Women in Military Service for America Memorial at Arlington Cemetery. The lively discussion, focused on maximizing potential and improving performance through leadership, featured Angie Morgan and Courtney Lynch as keynote speakers. These two former captains in the Marines co-authored the best-selling book Leading from the Front, No Excuse Leadership Tactics for Women. The evening welcomed members from the Washington business community to an educational and inspiring seminar and networking opportunities.

On October 26, 2006, the Washington, DC Chapter hosted a “Re-Do It Yourself” event of inspiration and instruction at the National Symphony Orchestra 2006 Decorators' Show House in Potomac, Maryland. Clients and friends enjoyed a wonderful evening of networking with cocktails and tours of the NSO Decorators' Show House. Bestselling how-to authors, Julie Sussman and Stephanie Glakas-Tenet, also presented an instructive discussion on basic home repairs and car care.
On February 21, 2006, more than 60 women gathered in the beautiful surroundings of The Decatur House Museum to learn more about "Fostering the Next Generation of Women Leaders." Marie C. Wilson, president of The White House Project and author of Closing the Leadership Gap: Why Women Can and Must Help Run the World, was the evening's keynote speaker. Her remarks detailed how we can work together to make American institutions, businesses and governments truly representative by filling the leadership pipeline with a diverse, critical mass of women.

On August 2, 2005, the women of DC's WNF Chapter kicked off their business shoes and donned their golf shoes for an evening of fun. "Get into the Swing" was held at the beautiful Tournament Players Club at Avenel in Potomac, Maryland, and featured a Golf Clinic followed by a cocktail reception. With a chance to learn the basics, perfect their pitching or putting, or just enjoy cocktails and fellowship, it was a hit with scratch golfers and beginners alike.

On November 9, 2004, the DC Chapter played host to Rosalind Wiseman, author of Queen Bees and Wannabes -- the anthropological study on which the blockbuster movie " Mean Girls" was based. More than 100 women from the DC area attended the cocktail reception, held at the Washington International School's Tregaron Estate, where Wiseman discussed how the fascinating and awkward relationships young girls experience influence the personal and professional relationships they develop as women.
The DC Chapter's inaugural event was held on May 19, 2004: an elegant cocktail reception at the Freer Gallery of Art. A highlight of the evening was remarks by best-selling memoirist and novelist Anchee Min, author of Becoming Madame Mao, Red Azalea and Empress Orchid.
