Andy's practice focuses on bankruptcy, restructuring and creditor rights.

Over the course of Andy's legal career, he has represented a wide range of parties in out of court workouts and in court restructurings and contested matters. Among the kinds of parties represented are Chapter 11 debtors, a Chapter 9 debtor, debtor in possession lenders, secured creditors, creditors committees, acquisition entities, individual creditors and investors. He volunteers for pro bono cases through the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program (DVAP), a program of the Dallas Bar Association and Legal Aid of Northwest Texas for Dallas County residents.

Andy is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Texas, and the US District and Bankruptcy Courts for the Eastern, Northern, Southern and Western Districts of Texas.

  • Secured creditor counsel instrumental in having chapter 11 in Dallas, TX dismissed for bad faith filing. 
  • Workout and sale counsel in out of court restructuring of metals fabricator located in southwestern United States. 
  • Acquisition counsel for plan sponsor of liquor distiller in chapter 11 case in Birmingham, AL. 
  • Counsel for indenture trustee holding undersecured claim to property in Hawaii. 
  • Lead Chapter 11 counsel for an integrated multi-level marketing, manufacturing and wholesale home decor business that in prior years generated in excess of $600 million in sales and operated through out the United States, Canada and Mexico. 
  • Lead pre-petition workout and special Chapter 11 counsel to an oil and gas exploration and production company with mineral assets in Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas, in case in which assets were auctioned under Section 363. 
  • Lead counsel to the Official Unsecured Creditors' Committee in a nursing home reorganization of an eighty home senior living operation with homes in Illinois and Texas. 
  • Lead Chapter 11 counsel for a New York Stock Exchange retailer with over 640 stores, $600 million in debt and $1 billion in sales that confirmed a plan of reorganization. 
  • Represented a New York Stock Exchange parent company of a former industry leader in the HLTV consumer loan business that filed and reorganized under chapter 11. 
  • Chapter 11 counsel for a service company for the insurance industry that processed policies and claims for insurance companies that outsourced that function. 
  • Lead Chapter 9 counsel for a local government corporation that developed and operated a Tier 1 pari-mutuel racetrack. 
  • Lead Chapter 11 counsel for a publicly traded mechanical contractor and its subsidiaries that operated nationally and internationally prior to filing for bankruptcy protection. 
  • Co-Chapter 11 counsel for a family of multi-state sugar production companies whose assets were sold on an expedited basis due to their perishable quality. 
  • Co-counsel for a public company in a proxy contest under Nevada law. 
  • Lead acquisition counsel for a private entity that acquired a potash mine through a Chapter 11 sales process. 
  • Lead debtor-in-possession lending counsel for a natural gas trader that secured its recovery on the gas it supplied through a court approved super priority loan.
