WASHINGTON — February 10, 2012 — Hunton & Williams LLP was recognized as the nation's leading practice for carbon- and emission-reduction credit trading when it was selected "2011 Best Law Firm, US Emissions–All Markets" in a readers survey by Environmental Finance and Carbon Finance. The annual survey is a closely watched poll of the carbon, renewable energy, weather risk and US emissions markets. Firms were ranked based on the level of service provided over the previous 12 months.
In the article accompanying the announcement, Washington partner Allison D. Wood talks with Environmental Finance on the DC Circuit Court's upcoming review of EPA's Cross-State Air Pollution Rule, saying: "All eyes will be on the DC Circuit Court, which will determine if the EPA's CSAPR program passes muster. Several petitions have asked the court to issue an injunction preventing CSAPR from taking effect in January. Although there is no deadline, the court is likely to decide whether or not to issue the stay by the end of the year simply because of the program’s January start date."
Hunton & Williams is actively involved in all legal aspects of physical and financial commodities trading on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. Lawyers in the firm’s commodities trading group represent and advise clients on transactions involving energy and energy-linked commodities, including, but not limited to electricity, natural gas, coal and oil.
