Fernando C. Alonso has practiced in the corporate and securities, banking and international fields for more than 20 years.
Relevant Experience
- Mr. Alonso's clients include a broad range of publicly owned and privately held U.S. and foreign companies and financial institutions. Mr. Alonso has been involved in numerous significant acquisitions, mergers, joint ventures and other business transactions, including those involving cross-border complexities. His practice involves representation of both financial institutions and companies in connection with equity and debt financings. He has structured and directed numerous private equity deals. Most recently, Mr. Alonso has been involved in the structuring of public/private partnerships. Mr. Alonso regularly represents foreign clients in connection with U.S. acquisitions, as well as domestic companies in connection with their international expansion. He has particular experience in the telecommunications and energy sectors.
- Mr. Alonso received his B.A. with distinction in history in 1980 from Yale College, having graduated summa cum laude and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He received his J.D. in 1983 from Yale Law School. Before commencing his practice, Mr. Alonso served as a judicial clerk for the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
- Mr. Alonso has been active in several philanthropic and community organizations. He is a member of the International, American, Cuban-American, and Miami-Dade County Bar Associations and is a member of the Executive Committee, Yale Law School.
- At Hunton & Williams, Mr. Alonso is Chairman of the firm's Latin American Practice Group.
