Practice focuses on defense of class actions, "mass" actions, and complex litigation.  Practice also includes employment and related business litigation and client counseling.

Relevant Experience
  • In addition to representing companies defending class, multiple-plaintiff, and complex consumer product and civil rights matters, nationwide litigation practice includes employment and related business disputes in state courts, federal courts and arbitration proceedings before the NASD and AAA, such as covenant not to compete litigation, non-disclosure disputes, trade secret protection, and disputes involving employment agreements.  Practice includes client counseling and advice regarding class action avoidance and preparation and issues related to the employer-employee relationship.  Some specific experiences include:
    • Defeated attempted certification of a class action against Fortune 100 company in a matter alleging, among other things, fraud and violation of Georgia RICO, related to defendant company’s data management role as third party administrator of an electronic network.
    • Successful representation of Fortune 25 insurance subsidiary defeating certification of a nationwide class action regarding benefits provided under supplemental cancer insurance policies.
    • Represented Fortune 50 insurance subsidiary in obtaining favorable resolutions of consumer class actions, regulatory investigations, and Multi-District Litigation proceedings brought in multiple state and federal jurisdictions alleging unlawful racial discrimination in the pricing of more than 2.5 million insurance policies.
    • Representation of Fortune 200 company in successful defense against alleged violations of Sarbanes-Oxley Act whistleblower protections.
    • Litigation and successful resolution of claim alleging unlawful retaliatory discharge brought against Fortune 100 consumer electronics and appliance retailer.
    • Litigated sexual harassment and employment discrimination matters asserted under state and federal laws, including putative class actions, multiple-plaintiff cases and collective actions.
