Practice focuses on labor and employment law matters, including litigation and counseling in the areas of employment discrimination, workplace harassment, employee discipline, employment contracts, covenants not to compete, wage and hour compliance, collective bargaining issues, accommodating disabilities, and family and medical leave compliance.
Relevant Experience
- Represented world's largest pork processor in civil RICO action against international labor union; litigation resulted in groundbreaking precedent relating to the use of racketeering laws to defend against union corporate campaigns.
- Provides advice and effective strategies to employers responding to non-traditional union organizing activity, including corporate campaigns.
- Represented Fortune 500 company in defense of class action employment discrimination case.
- Represented publicly-traded company in defense of one of the earliest Sarbanes-Oxley whistleblower claims by an employee and obtained summary judgment for the employer on that claim.
- Represented clients in federal and state court litigation involving employment discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful discharge.
- Represented clients in matters being investigated by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and various state and local civil rights agencies.
- Represented clients in civil rights litigation under 42 U.S.C. § 1983.
