Relevant Experience
  • Several investigations into potential cyber intrusions of financial institutions, including investigation for international bank victimized by network security breach and theft from ATM network and subsequent litigation. Interfaced with and briefed United States and international law enforcement and financial institution regulators.
  • Numerous investigations into potential cyber intrusions, cyber extortions, and computer breach events for Fortune 500, major multi-national, and energy companies including investigation into two of the largest reported credit card hacking events in retail history.
  • Regularly advises on data protection and potential compromises of sensitive data for financial institutions, health care, energy, and retail companies, including the applicability of state breach laws, the Interagency Guidance, and the HITECH Act.
  • Regularly represents and conducts investigations for financial institutions into matters involving law enforcement and regulatory scrutiny.
  • Represents financial institutions, directors, and officers in regulatory enforcement actions including responding to "15 day letters" on issues relating to the Bank Secrecy Act, lending practices, and debt instruments.
  • Conducts internal investigations involving Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), money laundering, and political contribution issues.
  • Representing international energy company in complex commercial matters including Uniform Commercial Code pricing issues, contract disputes, and Petroleum Marketing Practices Act matters.
  • Representing major international beverage company in RICO dispute adverse to a foreign sovereign.
  • Representing Fortune 500 beverage company in contractual dispute and tort cases.
  • Defended individuals and companies in white collar criminal matters, including fraud, environmental, and campaign contribution matters.
  • Successfully represented a financial institution in putative securities fraud class action involving an international pension fund.
  • Successfully represented a financial institution in putative class action involving credit card lending practices.
  • Prosecuted highly publicized computer network intrusion and data breach for a major proprietary information vendor and a wide variety of white collar criminal cases, including bank, wire, and computer fraud. Prosecuted significant factoring fraud, securities fraud, major narcotics and money laundering cases. High profile federal court trials on mail fraud case, an airplane hijacking, an armed kidnapping of a federal worker, and an internet enticement offense.
  • Tried numerous jury cases in federal court. Authored briefs involving various criminal and immigration issues. Argued before the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals.
