Ms. Rainey's practice focuses on complex commercial litigation matters and electronic discovery. Her commercial litigation matters include contract and business torts, class action defense, securities and fraud litigation and media law/first amendment litigation. Ms. Rainey also specializes in electronic discovery matters, including working with corporate clients to respond to the challenges of electronic discovery and preservation under the Federal and State Rules of Civil Procedure and in response to governmental investigations. She frequently works with corporate clients to design and implement company-wide legal hold and ediscovery protocols.
Relevant Experience
Ms. Rainey's recent experience includes:- currently serving as national ediscovery coordinating counsel for a major telecommunications company, along with others in her firm;
- managed large document productions ranging from millions to billions of documents, including interviewing clients to obtain documents, setting up the review electronically, overseeing and managing the process, and analyzing the final product in class action litigations for a large financial institution;
- assisted with the development of a comprehensive electronic discovery protocol and IT system profiles for a Fortune 100 company;
- worked with corporate clients to design and implement company-wide legal hold and ediscovery protocols;
- the representation of one of the world's largest financial institutions in connection with the defense of multidistrict, class action claims for securities fraud and ERISA violations brought by the former shareholders and employees of Enron Corp;
- the representation of a large financial services company in MDL and related SEC and DOJ investigations;
- the representation of a Fortune 50 telecommunications provider in connection with class action claims brought by high speed internet customers;
- the representation of a large financial institutions in regulatory and governmental investigations including investigations conducted by the FBI, IRS, DOJ and US Attorney's Office;
- the representation of a Finnish Company in connection with claims for misappropriation of trade secrets and confidential information;
- the representation of financial institutions defending fraud and breach of fiduciary claims brought by trust department customers relating to portfolio management and other claims; and
- the representation of news organizations in defense of claims for defamation and invasion of privacy, in responding to civil and criminal subpoenas, and in pursuing access to public records.
