Hunton Andrews Kurth Represents American Electric Power Company, Inc. in Sale of 1,365 MW Renewables Portfolio

Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP is representing American Electric Power Company, Inc. (“AEP”) in connection with the recently announced sale of its 1,365-megawatt unregulated, contracted renewables portfolio to IRG Acquisition Holdings, a partnership owned by Invenergy, CDPQ and funds managed by Blackstone Infrastructure. The $1.5 billion transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2023.

AEP operates and maintains the nation's largest electricity transmission system and more than 225,000 miles of distribution lines to safely deliver reliable and affordable power to 5.6 million regulated customers in 11 states. AEP also is one of the nation's largest electricity producers with approximately 31,000 megawatts of diverse generating capacity, including more than 6,900 megawatts of renewable energy.
