WASHINGTON — March 12, 2012 — Following a 40-year legal career focused on intellectual property matters, Leonard Charles Suchyta has accepted a position with Hunton & Williams LLP as counsel in its Washington office. Suchyta joins the firm from Verizon, where he was Vice President and Associate General Counsel of its award-winning intellectual property department (2011 Global Counsel Award, 2010 and 2008 finalist). Prior to Verizon, Suchyta had similar positions at GTE, Bellcore, and Data General.
"Len has held primary responsibility for the IP due diligence and IP issues on every acquisition and divestiture Verizon has done, and our clients will benefit from his experience and relationships with industry leaders," said Gregory N. Suchyta's experience includes the allocation and licensing of intellectual property required to conduct business; licensing intellectual property as part of technology transfers or purchases/ sales of businesses, cross-licenses for entire portfolios for selected fields of use, settlement of litigation; intellectual property issues in agreements associated with the purchase/sale of products, software, and services; and managing patent and trade secret litigation as both plaintiff and defendant.
