NEW YORK — April 17, 2012 — Hunton & Williams LLP continues its focused expansion in its key practice areas, adding six partners to its global energy and infrastructure practice from Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP. Bud Ellis, formerly co-head of Dewey's utilities, power and pipelines industry group, Kevin C. Felz, Michael F. Fitzpatrick Jr., Steven C. Friend, Steve R. Loeshelle and Peter K. O'Brien represent companies and investment banks in the power and utility industries, with a particular focus on public and private capital markets transactions.
In addition to their capital markets representations, the new partners have advised various power companies and infrastructure funds in the acquisition and divestiture of both domestic and international assets, as well as dedicated utility rate securitizations, synthetic leases and project financings in various jurisdictions. The group will be based in New York and deepens and complements Hunton & Williams’ existing energy-related practices.
"This team of lawyers is well known to us. They are leading lawyers in the power and utility capital markets, and their strong issuer and underwriter experience in these industries adds further depth to our established global practice. We are delighted to welcome them to Hunton & Williams," said Jeff Schroeder, co-head of the firm's energy and infrastructure team.
"We are excited to be joining an outstanding firm like Hunton & Williams, and we believe our capital markets and infrastructure and project finance practice is a great addition to the existing practice at the firm," added Bud Ellis, who will lead the energy capital markets practice in New York.
The Hunton & Williams energy practice has more than 150 lawyers dedicated to advising clients on a broad range of energy and infrastructure matters, including financing, project development, asset and company acquisitions and dispositions, energy regulatory and environmental issues, corporate transactions and financial restructuring.
