Len’s practice focuses on the acquisition, allocation and licensing of intellectual property required to conduct businesses; licensing intellectual property as part of technology transfers or purchases/sales of businesses, acquisition and sale of intellectual property, cross-licenses for entire portfolios in selected fields of use, settlement of intellectual property litigation; intellectual property issues in agreements associated with the purchase/sale of products, software, and services; protection, management and monetization of intellectual property, and managing patent and trade secret litigation as both plaintiff and defendant.
As the former Vice President and Associate General Counsel of Verizon’s award-winning intellectual property department (2011 Global Counsel Award, 2010 and 2008 finalist), Len brings a deep understanding of the telecommunications industry and valuable insight into today’s in-house legal department landscape. Prior to Verizon, Len held similar positions at GTE, Bellcore, and Data General. While at Verizon, Len oversaw all of Verizon’s intellectual property matters, including mergers, acquisitions and divestitures; licensing, acquisition and divestiture of intellectual property, including licensing patents from patent aggregators; patent litigation settlement; patent portfolio growth and management; protection and enforcement of company intellectual property; and patent and trade secret litigation, both as plaintiff and defendant.
Len is a registered patent attorney, and is admitted to practice in all federal and state Courts of Michigan, Massachusetts and New Jersey and before the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
