Megan's practice focuses on complex commercial litigation in both state and federal courts.

Megan's representations frequently include clients in the construction, energy, and financial services industries, focusing on complex contract, tort, and consumer lending disputes. The cases she has handled cover a broad range, from products liability and theft of trade secrets to securities and consumer fraud.

Megan is licensed to practice in all federal and state courts in North Carolina, as well as the US Supreme Court and the US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. She is a member of the Charlotte Office Pro Bono committee and has represented pro bono clients on diverse issues including child custody, landlord-tenant issues, veterans’ benefits, and animal abuse.

Relevant Experience

  • Represented several national consumer lenders in connection with a variety of consumer litigation. Claims defended include alleged violations of federal lending statutes, such as TILA, RESPA, FCRA, and ECOA, alleged violations of state statutes regulating mortgage lenders, and common law tort claims. 
  • Counsels clients with respect to TILA and RESPA compliance issues uncovered during audits and prior to purchase of loan portfolios.
  • Developed HUD audit manual for testing third-party servicing operations on behalf of community bank client.
  • Represents servicers and trustees in contested foreclosure cases.
  • Counsels clients with respect to their rights and obligations under pooling and servicing agreements.
  • Represents servicer in connection with ongoing title issues related to defunct prior servicer.
  • Represented various utility companies in enforcement actions under the Clean Air Act.
  • Represented builders and owner in construction defect and insurance coverage litigation. 
  • Represented multiple clients before the North Carolina Business Court in litigations involving breach of contract, tort, unfair and deceptive trade practices, and trade secrets claims. 
  • Represented plaintiff manufacturing company in litigation involving misappropriation of trade secrets and enforcement of employee non-compete agreement. 
  • Represented national bank in patent infringement litigation. 
  • Managed large scale document productions and reviews for various clients, including electronic discovery. 
  • Represented various insurers in coverage litigations and provided coverage opinions. 
  • Represents and advises a variety of other clients in subpoena responses, litigation, and claims assessment. 
  • Represented the National District Attorneys Association in amicus brief before the Supreme Court.
