Hunton & Williams LLP Attorneys Recognized for Exemplary Pro Bono Efforts in North Carolina

RALEIGH, N.C. – Hunton & Williams LLP today announced that two of the firm's attorneys in the Raleigh office have been recognized for their pro bono work in the local community. Jason Thomas, an associate whose practice focuses on resources, regulatory and environmental law, has been recognized by Business Leader magazine and the North Carolina Bar Association (NCBA) for the first annual "The Power of Justice" pro bono awards. Robert Van Arnam, an associate whose practices focuses on litigation and intellectual property, has been named one of the featured volunteers this month by probono.net, a pro bono resource
Web site.

Thomas was one of 24 attorneys from the Triangle selected to be honored at “The Power of Justice” event,which recognizes attorneys who are making an impact through their pro bono work in North Carolina. Janet Ward Black, president of the NCBA, will be the keynote speaker for the event, which will be attended by many prominent members of both the legal and business communities. The event will take place May 5 at the North Raleigh Hilton in Raleigh, N.C. Thomas will also be featured in an upcoming issue of Business Leader magazine.

Van Arnam was featured on probono.net, a Web site that contains resources for pro bono and legal services attorneys, law professionals and law students to assist in representation of low income or disadvantaged clients. Van Arnam is actively involved with Legal Aide of North Carolina, and his profile features the work he has done with the organization to improving the quality of available housing to low-income individuals in one of our state’s rural townships.
