WASHINGTON — May 18, 2010 — Hunton & Williams LLP is proud to announce it served as general Florida and finance counsel in the multibillion dollar I-595 toll road expansion project in Florida's Broward County, recently named the "2009 North American Transport Deal of the Year" by Project Finance magazine. Hunton & Williams represented Spanish construction conglomerate ACS Infrastructure Development, Inc and I-595 Express, LLC, in the successful transaction with the Florida Department of Transportation, which closed in March 2009. The project is the first public-private partnership (PPP) infrastructure project in Florida and the first availability-based structure in the US market.
The toll road expansion is expected to ease congestion on I-595 by constructing three free travel lanes plus a reversible SunPass-only two-lane tolling area. Beginning in June 2009, construction will extend over a five-year period. ACS Infrastructure will operate the toll road.
The Hunton & Williams team of lawyers on this project included, among others, Carlos Loumiet, Alex McLane Soto, Cameron N. Cosby, and John D. O’Neill Jr. Hunton & Williams' transportation infrastructure group of corporate and municipal finance lawyers adopts a multidisciplinary approach to the provision of legal services for clients, drawing upon the firm's broad resources in practice areas as needed depending upon the complexity and geographic location of particular projects.
