Reuters spoke with tax lawyer Ofer Lion about the screening function of the IRS's committee in reviewing the status of 501(c)4 groups. Lion remarked that the agency is using a special committee of career civil servants to try to avoid the appearance of playing politics with its enforcement efforts.
