The Wilkie D. Ferguson, Jr. Bar Association was founded in 1977 by a group of Black lawyers who realized that breaking through the barriers to full inclusion into the legal community in Miami-Dade County could only be accomplished through a collective effort. The Association has had an important impact on the legal, civic and political landscape of Miami-Dade County. In addition, it has provided financial assistance and mentoring to a large number of law and undergraduate students.
Ellis focuses her practice on general and complex civil litigation with an emphasis on labor and employment law, as well as commercial disputes. Active in the community, she is an Attorney Ad Litem with Lawyers For Children America and is on the Board of Kid' Side, Inc., a 501(c)(3) dedicated to the purpose of obtaining funding for Family Court Services. Ellis is also a member of the Florida State Bar, American Bar Association, and the Dade County Bar Association where she participates in the eMentoring Program of the Young Lawyers Section.
