Raj has more than 20 years extensive experience advising clients in corporate matters and the energy and infrastructure sectors in the U.S. and international markets, including mergers and acquisitions, structured finance, energy, project finance and development, renewable, and oil, gas and LNG transactions.
In the energy, project finance and development sector, Raj represents project sponsors and developers, lenders, financial institutions, multilateral development agencies and export credit agencies, investment funds, contractors, suppliers and other participants on a broad range of large scale and complex project and energy transactions. His project development and finance experience includes: conventional, renewable and nuclear power generation plants; oil and petrochemical refineries; telecommunications, road, water and other infrastructure facilities and structures; and greenfield manufacturing and industrial facilities.
Raj has broad-based experience advising buyers, sellers, investors, and acquisition finance lenders on a wide range of mergers and acquisitions, investment and joint venture transactions, both domestic and cross-border, including complex mergers, acquisitions and dispositions, strategic investments, disinvestments and recapitalizations across several industry sectors.
He is widely recognized for his experience in the area of oil, gas and LNG. Raj advises sponsors and developers, lenders, oil and gas majors, pipeline companies, and ship owners on transactions and financings involving LNG facilities and ships, oil and petrochemical refineries, and gas facilities and pipelines, including in some of the largest global transactions to have taken place.
Raj is chair of the firm's Japan practice and co-chair of the Asia Steering Committee. He is a frequent speaker and author on energy and project development and finance. Prior to practicing law, Raj was a professional consultant engineer, designing refineries, power plants and nuclear control systems.
