In 2008, the firm expanded its West Coast presence with the establishment of its second office in California. The San Francisco office is strategically located in the same city as the historic seat of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, and the national headquarters of numerous environmental non-governmental organizations.

Labor and employment law represents a significant component of our California practice. Lawyers in our San Francisco office have significant experience representing employers and management in class-action cases in federal and state courts across the nation, including claims brought under state wage and hour laws. Our lawyers have counseled clients on the Fair Labor Standards Act, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act (including Title III cases), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Employee Retirement Income Security Act and various state consumer protection and deceptive trade practice laws. We also have concentrated experience advising clients involving claims against former executives and management relating to stock options and other incentive compensation agreements.

Hunton & Williams LLP's environmental team in California is an integral component of the firm's larger practice that has long been at the center of the most significant environmental policy debates, regulatory developments, enforcement and litigation in the U.S. and beyond. Lawyers in our San Francisco office have extensive experience assisting domestic and international clients in the mining, chemicals, petroleum, technology, financial services and other industries with air, water and waste-related matters, and with environmental policy and transactional work at the state, national and international levels.

During the firm's last three fiscal years, 100% of Hunton & Williams lawyers participated in pro bono projects. Lawyers in the San Francisco office have represented more than 15 clients and non-profit organizations on a pro bono basis.
