Established in 1988, our Atlanta office comprises approximately 60 lawyers with experience in a wide range of legal matters. We have represented multiple publicly held companies including numerous Fortune 500 corporations. Lawyers in the Atlanta office represent some of the largest financial services companies and banks in the United States as well as clients in industries such as real estate, life sciences, chemicals production, manufacturing and hospitality. We also have significant experience conducting a wide range of legal matters for regulated utilities including electric power, telecommunications and interstate pipeline companies. We have significant experience representing clients in general corporate matters and corporate finance, both domestic and international, technology-related matters, sourcing transactions, environmental regulation and litigation, labor and employment matters, privacy and information security, tax and employee benefits, real estate, banking, intellectual property, litigation and dispute resolution, municipal finance, and health care and life sciences.
At Hunton & Williams LLP, we believe that the practice of law is a service to society. That is why we are committed to providing pro bono legal services to those in our communities that cannot afford to pay for a lawyer. In 1995, Hunton & Williams opened a neighborhood office in southeast Atlanta, the Southside Legal Center, which serves low-income residents by counseling and representing them in the areas of adoption, business law, domestic relations, guardianships, landlord-tenant relations and real estate. We also provide pro bono legal services to Atlanta area nonprofit organizations. In October 2010, we celebrated the 15th anniversary of the Southside Legal Center. For all of its pro bono efforts, including the Southside Legal Center, the Atlanta office has received much recognition. Most recently, the Georgia Lawyers for the Arts honored Hunton & Williams' Atlanta office with the Robert C. Lower Commitment to Justice Award “in recognition of the firm’s outstanding service and dedication to the arts community in Georgia.” The firm had received this award in 2005 and is the first law firm to receive the recognition a second time. The Georgia Lawyers for the Arts is a non-profit organization that provides legal assistance and educational programming to artists and arts organizations in Georgia. For the third consecutive year, 100% of the lawyers in the Atlanta office performed some pro bono work, representing indigent individuals and non-profit organizations.
Our dedication to the community is not only manifested by a commitment to a significant pro bono practice, but by our involvement in many Atlanta-area service projects including Atlanta Children’s Shelter, Atlanta Legal Aid Society, Inc.’s Grandparent/Relative Caregiver Project, Crossroads Ministries, the March of Dimes and Habitat for Humanity.
