Recent years have seen a rapid rise in the number of patent infringement cases brought by non-practicing entities (NPEs). Although NPEs generate significant controversy, they will remain an active part of the patent litigation landscape for the foreseeable future.

Presenters Maya Eckstein, Leonard Suchyta and Ozzie Farres will discuss the unique challenges posed by NPE plaintiffs, and provide practical tips for anticipating and defending against cases filed by them. Topics will include:

  • What distinguishes NPEs from traditional plaintiffs and what advantages do they have?
  • How should companies respond to "notice" letters sent by NPEs?
  • What are the most effective litigation strategies for efficiently defending and resolving disputes with NPEs - both in federal court and in the Patent & Trademark Office?
  • What are best practices for eliminating or reducing the risk associated with NPE claims?
  • How can defendants improve their position regarding infringement claims brought by NPEs?

This program will be held via webinar and live in our New York, Richmond, Raleigh, Washington, DC and Atlanta offices. Refreshments Provided.

Applications for one hour of CLE credit pending with CA, NY, GA, VA, NJ, NC, FL and TX.

Credit not guaranteed.
