After years of rapid expansion, pro bono increases moderated in 2009--but a threatened nosedive didn't happen

At a time when other law firms spent less effort on pro bono, average hours per lawyer at Hunton & Williams rose to 87.2 in 2009, from 82.2, and the percentage of lawyers with more than 20 hours increased to 85.4 from 80.8.  George Hettrick, chairman of the community service committee, pointed out that a strong commitment to pro bono is part of every lawyer's work at the firm.
