The Burton Awards for Legal Achievement, a program run in association with the Library of Congress, announced the thirty-five best law firm writers of 2012. The winners were chosen from the entries submitted by the nation's 1,000 largest and most prestigious law firms. Entries included articles on legal subjects published within the past year. Peter Weinstock of Hunton & Williams LLP was selected for his article, "Acquisitions of Failed Banks Present Risk and Opportunity," RMA Journal, January 2011.

The Burton Awards event will be held at the Library of Congress on June 11, 2012. This year marks the 13th year for the nonprofit program. The Burton Awards program was established to honor the finest law firm and law school authors and has since expanded into other major achievements in law. The 2012 program features United States Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens (retired), who will be the guest of honor.
