EC delays revision of data protection directive
The European Commission has announced a new schedule for the revision of the European Union Data Protection Directive that will delay legislative proposals for over a year. Bridget Treacy, who leads the UK Privacy and Information Management practice, confirmed for Info Security that the review of the Directive is an ambitious project and that, unsurprisingly, it will take time to consider the numerous submissions made during the recent consultation exercise. Treacy’s practice focuses on privacy, data protection, information governance and e-commerce issues for multinational companies across a broad range of industry sectors.
