Fernando C. Alonso, who chairs the Latin American practice group of Hunton & Williams, has been named among the top 100 lawyers from international law firms that are involved in the legal business in Latin America for 2015. Alonso was recognized for his work in the categories corporate, M&A and banking and finance.

In its profile of Alonso, Latinvex included client comments: “[the client] has worked with Fernando Alonso and his Hunton & Williams team for many years because they are the best we could find.” “Fernando is an extremely intelligent business focused lawyer and advisor, with impressive contacts and experience in Latin America.” “We’ve done transactions in a number of countries and Fernando has assisted us successfully in many issues of different nature.”

Latinvex also noted that “Alonso led the team that advised Panama-based Promerica, a holding company that owns 8 different banks in Central America and the Dominican Republic, on its acquisition of Produbanco, Ecuador’s third-largest bank, last year. That comes on the heels of advising Panama’s Banistmo on its $2.1 billion sale to HSBC in 2013 and Citibank on its entry to Central America.”
