Hunton Andrews Kurth Advises Underwriters in $1 Billion Senior Notes Offering of American Electric Power Company, Inc.

Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP represented the underwriters in connection with an SEC-registered offering by American Electric Power Company, Inc. (“AEP”) of $500 million aggregate principal amount of its 5.75% Senior Notes, Series O, due 2027 and $500 million 5.95% Senior Notes, Series P, due 2032. The transaction closed on November 2, 2022.

AEP, based in Columbus, Ohio, operates and maintains the nation’s largest electricity transmission system and more than 222,000 miles of distribution lines to efficiently deliver safe, reliable power to more than 5.5 million regulated customers in 11 states. AEP also is one of the nation’s largest electricity producers with more than 21,000 megawatts of diverse generating capacity, including approximately 2,860 megawatts of renewable energy. AEP’s family of companies includes utilities AEP Ohio, AEP Texas, Appalachian Power (in Virginia and West Virginia), AEP Appalachian Power (in Tennessee), Indiana Michigan Power, Kentucky Power, Public Service Company of Oklahoma and Southwestern Electric Power Company (in Arkansas, Louisiana and east Texas).
