Hunton Andrews Kurth Represents Remarketing Agent in Connection with Alabama Power Company’s Tax-Exempt Remarketings

Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP represented the remarketing agent in connection with Alabama Power Company’s tax-exempt remarketings. The firm acted as counsel to The Frazer Lanier Company, Incorporated, as the remarketing agent for the remarketing of (i) $50 million of The Industrial Development Board of the Town of Columbia Pollution Control Revenue Refunding Bonds (Alabama Power Company Project), Series 2014-D (the “Town of Columbia, Series 2014-D Bonds”) and (ii) $80 million of The Industrial Development Board of the City of Mobile, Alabama Pollution Control Revenue Bonds (Alabama Power Company Barry Plant Project), Series 2007-B (the “City of Mobile, Series 2007-B Bonds”).

The City of Mobile, Series 2007-B Bonds were initially issued by The Industrial Development Board of the City of Mobile, Alabama and the proceeds were loaned to APC to finance a portion of the costs of the acquisition, construction, equipping and sale to APC of pollution control and environmental improvement facilities at the James M. Barry Electric Generating Plant, located near the City of Mobile, Alabama.

The Town of Columbia, Series 2014-D Bonds were initially issued by The Industrial Development Board of the Town of Columbia, Alabama and the proceeds were loaned to APC to finance or refinance the cost of the acquisition, construction, equipping and sale to APC of certain facilities or portions thereof, designed for the abatement or control of air and water pollution, and the disposal of sewage and solid waste at the Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant, located in Houston County, Alabama.

APC is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Southern Company. APC is engaged in the generation, transmission, distribution, and purchase of electricity and the sale of electric service within the State of Alabama at retail in approximately 400 cities and towns (including Anniston, Birmingham, Gadsden, Mobile, Montgomery, and Tuscaloosa), as well as in rural areas and at wholesale.
