RICHMOND, Va. — July 29, 2011 — Hunton & Williams LLP announces the promotion of health care lawyer Liz Breen and energy lawyer Bill Newton to Counsel, effective July 21. Through their many accomplishments, Newton and Breen have distinguished themselves as excellent lawyers and valued members of their practice groups.

Elizabeth A. Breen, who joined the firm in 2000, concentrates her practice on health care law and the representation of health care providers, including health care systems, academic medical centers, hospitals, and other health care companies. She regularly advises on matters pertaining to federal and state health care regulatory compliance, including "Stark" law and anti-kickback law issues, certificate of public need, licensure, and practitioner disciplinary matters. Named a "2011 Rising Star" by Virginia Super Lawyers, Breen received her undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and her law degree from William & Mary School of Law.

William L. Newton, who joined the firm in 2002, focuses on domestic and international energy projects. He has been instrumental in fostering the firm's global energy and infrastructure practice, which provides finance, development, and infrastructure counsel at every step of a project. Newton is adept at representing clients involved in the US energy markets and equally excels at representing clients involved in complex transactions related to the development of major energy and infrastructure projects globally. Newton, who is fluent in French and Russian, received his undergraduate degree from the University of Richmond and his law degree from University of Virginia School of Law.
