Washington — November 3, 2009 — Hunton & Williams LLP announces the admission of Washington lawyer Michael A. Oakes to its partnership. Oakes, who joined Hunton & Williams in 2008, is a member of the firm’s global litigation group. He focuses his practice on patent and other IP-related litigation matters and advises clients on data security and privacy issues, including the legal response to network intrusions and data breaches.

With more than 300 lawyers, Hunton & Williams maintains one of the largest litigation teams among global firms, and our lawyers appear before many of the tribunals that matter most to our clients. For example, we have extensive experience litigating patent infringement cases in the Eastern District of Virginia and other courts where patent cases are common, including the District of Delaware, the Central District of California and the Eastern District of Texas.

Oakes received an undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and a law degree cum laude from Duke University.
