Miami, FL — August 22, 2011 — Hunton & Williams LLP represented Sabadell United Bank in the closing of Sabadell's acquisition of Lydian Private Bank, a wholly owned subsidiary of Lydian Holding Company, from the FDIC as receiver. The acquisition expands Sabadell’s combined operations to nearly $4 billion in assets and expands its network of branches to 25 locations in six counties in Florida.

The Hunton & Williams team involved lawyers from various offices. The team included partners Peter Weinstock from Dallas and Fernando C. Alonso from Miami; senior associate Heather S. Archer from Washington; and associates Sarah Klee from Miami and Jeremy S. Lemmon from Dallas.

"We are pleased to have helped shepherd Sabadell through the process of acquiring a bank from the FDIC as receiver," said Weinstock. "This acquisition is the third time we have represented the winning bidder in the last four weeks in an FDIC-assisted transaction. Overall we have represented bidders in FDIC-assisted transactions in more than 4 percent of all such transactions since 2007, and our lawyers have been involved in more than 100 FDIC-assisted transactions over the last 25 years."

The acquisition of Lydian Private Bank gives Sabadell greater private banking and wealth management services throughout the State of Florida. "This strategic acquisition supports Sabadell United Bank's growth plans in Florida," said Alonso. "Florida continues to attract investment from local and international financial institutions; opportunities to acquire or invest in banks that require capital remain attractive."

Sabadell's internal legal team was led by Anna Oestereicher, its US general counsel, and Maria Antonia Santaella. The Hunton & Williams team worked closely with Keefe, Bruyette & Woods, which served as investment advisor on the deal.
