NEW YORK — June 26, 2013 — Hunton & Williams LLP congratulates partner Steven M. Haas for his recent selection as a "Rising Star of Corporate Governance" by the Millstein Center for Global Markets and Corporate Ownership at Columbia Law School. Rising Stars are recognized for their outstanding efforts in the corporate governance arena and chosen based on past accomplishments and thought leadership; future projects and endeavors; reputation among existing industry leaders; and potential to influence the industry in the future, by a committee of past Rising Star awardees. The award was presented at the Millstein Center's 2013 Governance Forum in New York City.

Haas's practice focuses on corporate governance and mergers and acquisitions. He is the co-editor of the leading treatise Corporate Governance: Law and Practice (LexisNexis). In his M&A practice, he has represented clients in M&A transactions that have been awarded M&A Atlas Awards for Consumer Goods and Services Deal of the Year (2010), North American Deal of the Year (2011 deal range $1 to $5 billion), North American Corporate Deal of the Year – Middle Markets (2011), and M&A Atlas Deal of the Year – Americas Large Middle Markets (2012).

In addition to his legal practice, Haas is an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Richmond School of Law, where he teaches a course on mergers and acquisitions. He also chairs the ABA Corporate Governance Subcommittee on "Current Developments and Emerging Issues." He is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law.
