Raleigh, N.C. — December 3, 2009 — Hunton & Williams LLP announces William H. McBride has received the Frederick O. Kiel Distinguished Service Award from the National Association of Bond Lawyers (NABL). The Distinguished Service Award recognizes extraordinary service individuals have provided to the association.

As a senior public finance partner, McBride's practice focuses on tax-exempt public finance transactions, with special emphasis on tax and arbitrage matters. He has particular experience in tax exempt swaps and derivatives, indenture covenants and private activity issues relating to municipal bonds. McBride is a founding member of NABL and has filled many leadership positions including serving as president from 1995 to 1996. He has served as chair of a number of NABL committees including the Education Committee and the Arbitrage Committee. He has led or been a presenter at nearly every seminar or workshop offered by NABL over the last 20 years, including Fundamentals of Municipal Bonds Seminar, Seminars for the Internal Revenue Service, Arbitrage/Tax Seminars and the Washington, Rebate and Tax Seminars. He was chair of the Bond Attorneys’ Workshop in 1988, and has been on the workshop's steering committee and a panelist for many years. He was the first North Carolina member of the American College of Bond Counsel.
