In keeping with this commitment, Dominion and Hunton & Williams are pleased to partner with the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity’s (“LCLD”) 1L Scholars program to offer one outstanding diverse first-year law student focused on pursuing a career in Richmond, VA, the opportunity to participate in a ten-week clerkship during the summer of 2018 (from May 17 to July 27). Students will spend six weeks as a summer associate at the Richmond, Virginia office of Hunton & Williams and four weeks of the summer working in Dominion Energy’s corporate offices in Richmond. They also will be enrolled in the LCLD 1L Scholars Program. Participants will:

  • Fully participate in Hunton & Williams’s 2018 summer program;
  • Have an opportunity to be paired with an LCLD Fellow who will serve as a Mentor (for a minimum of one year);
  • Experience projects from both in-house and outside counsel perspectives; and
  • Attend the LCLD 1L Scholars Summit in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from May 22 through May 24.


Students who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply for this opportunity:

  • Currently enrolled as a first-year law student in good standing at an ABA-accredited law school; and
  • Self-identify as a member of one or more of the following groups: Hispanic or Latino; Black or African American; American Indian or Alaska Native; Asian, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander; two or more races; lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgendered; Disabled Veteran, Recently Separated Veteran (last 3 years), Active Duty Wartime or Campaign Badge Veteran, Armed Forces Service Medal Veteran (within the meaning of the Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act of 1974, as amended); or an Individual with a Disability (within the meaning of Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended); and
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
