Please join us for a timely webinar on the US Department of Justice’s Final Rule implementing Executive Order 14117, which restricts access by “countries of concern” to American’s bulk sensitive personal data and US government-related data. The webinar will focus on the requirements of the Final Rule and DOJ’s recent guidance aimed at providing further clarity on the rule and identifying best practices for compliance. While many of the rule’s key provisions became effective on April 8, 2025, DOJ has indicated that it generally will not prioritize enforcement for violations through July 8, 2025, providing a short reprieve to regulated entities.

Hunton partners Michael La Marca and Lisa Sotto will provide an overview of the regulatory framework and highlight best practices for compliance with the rule. They will discuss:

  • The applicability and scope of DOJ’s Final Rule and the restrictions involving “bulk US sensitive personal data” and “US government-related data”
  • Legal risks and compliance obligations for affected organizations
  • Practical guidance for compliance

Hunton will seek CLE credit for this program in CA, FL, GA, NC, NY, TX and VA. Credit hours are not guaranteed and are subject to each state’s approval rules.
