ATLANTA — Hunton & Williams LLP announces Eric Jon Taylor rejoined the firm in Atlanta, as a partner in its national financial services litigation practice. A recognized leader in consumer and financial services class action litigation, Taylor left Hunton & Williams as a partner in August 2003 to join the US subsidiary of a Fortune 20 financial services company as its national litigation counsel.

“We completed a very successful fiscal year and are focused on the continued execution of our strategic plan, said Kurt Powell, Atlanta office managing partner. “Adding Eric and his financial services acumen is an important part of that overall plan.”

In his role as in-house national litigation counsel, Taylor had managerial responsibility for over 300 litigation matters, ranging from employment litigation matters to complex financial services and class action litigation cases. He also developed substantial experience in life insurance, mutual funds, annuities, re-insurance and other complex financial services and insurance products. Taylor left the in-house position in 2007 to join Parker, Hudson, Rainer & Dobbs LLP. Also joining Hunton & Williams from Parker Hudson is senior attorney Peter Busscher.

“Eric is an extremely talented lawyer, and given his extensive experience as lead trial counsel in many high-profile cases and as in-house chief litigation counsel for a prominent global financial services company, we are very pleased to have him return to Hunton & Williams,” said Lawrence J. Bracken II, a litigation partner who serves on the firm’s Executive Committee.

Taylor is a frequent speaker on consumer finance and class action litigation. This year he has made numerous presentations on such topics as major CFPB enforcement developments in 2015, defending mortgage servicers in class actions, fair lending hot topics, and defending TCPA class actions.

The Hunton & Williams financial services litigation group represents clients in consumer, business-to-business and regulatory litigation, drawing on the firm’s knowledge of the financial services industry and the products that are its stock in trade. The firm’s experience includes matters brought under federal and state banking, consumer protection, deceptive and unfair trade practice, and other trade regulation statutes.
