On June 9, Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP associate Nate Shepherd was recognized by the Virginia Access to Justice Commission as a Pro Bono Service Champion based on his pro bono contributions during the 2020-2021 bar year. The event took place on June 9 during the Chief Justice's Pro Bono Summit. This prestigious award is reserved for the top ten Virginia attorneys reporting the highest number of pro bono hours during the reporting year. The Virginia Access to Justice Commission was created in 2013, by order of the Supreme Court of Virginia, for the purpose of promoting equal access to justice, with particular emphasis on the civil legal needs of Virginia residents. Chief Justice S. Bernard Goodwyn and attorney John Whitfield, Executive Director and General Counsel of Blue Ridge Legal Services, co-chair the Commission.
