Richmond, Va. — June 30, 2010 — Hunton & Williams LLP is pleased to announce Richmond lawyers Marc Purintun and Kendal Sibley, members of the firm’s tax and ERISA practice, were promoted to Counsel status, effective June 28.

Purintun’s practice covers all areas of employee benefits matters, including deferred compensation and tax-qualified savings benefit and retirement plans. He has worked on a number of acquisitions and divestitures, providing employee benefits advice on both completing the transaction and integrating and implementing plans after closing. In addition to his legal work, Purintun is active in the community and serves as a board member of the Central Virginia Employee Benefits Council. He joined the firm in 2007 from McGuireWoods, where he practiced for six years. Purintun earned an undergraduate degree from Macalester College, law degree from William & Mary, and master of laws in taxation from Georgetown University. Sibley focuses her practice on the tax aspects of securitization transactions. She has worked on hundreds of real estate mortgage investment conduit (REMIC) transactions representing issuers, underwriters, servicers, and insurers. She is also a versatile player in handling the tax aspects of REITs, publicly traded partnerships, low-income housing tax credits and issues related to preserving the tax benefits of net operating losses. Sibley earned an undergraduate degree and law degree from the University of Virginia, where she was Order of the Coif and a member of the Law Review. Prior to joining the firm in 2004, Sibley held a two-year judicial clerkship with Judge Karen J. Williams of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
