WASHINGTON DC — July 6, 2011 — Hunton & Williams LLP announces the promotion of McLean lawyer Syed S. Ahmad and Washington lawyer John G. Moore to Counsel, effective June 27. Through their many accomplishments, Ahmad and Moore have distinguished themselves as excellent lawyers and valued members of their practice groups.

Syed S. Ahmad, who joined the firm in 2005, focuses on insurance coverage and reinsurance matters. He represents clients in connection with disputes involving general liability, errors and omissions, and directors and officers policies. He also counsels clients in connection with commercial property claims and litigation including claims arising from the World Trade Center attack and claims related to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. In addition, he advises clients in arbitrations and litigation involving all aspects of reinsurance disputes. Ahmad has been admitted in Virginia, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. He received his undergraduate and law degrees from George Mason University.

John G. Moore, who joined the firm in 2006, focuses his practice within the food and drug regulation area serving clients in the FDA-regulated industries. Moore has five years of technical and managerial experience in the food processing industry and holds a PhD in chemistry. He frequently draws on his scientific education and industry experience in serving clients and has become a resident authority on food and drug law, and has also developed key acumen in a number of niche areas of pharmaceutical and medical device law. Moore received his undergraduate degree from University of Delaware and law degree and PhD from University of South Carolina.
