Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP is proud to announce partner Ian Band and the firm’s Immigration practice have been named “Go-To Thought Leaders” by the National Law Review. The National Law Review identifies exceptional articles and authors and recognizes less than 1% of authors as “Go-To Thought Leaders” every year. This year, 87 authors out of a pool of 14,000 contributed pieces that were selected to be featured in the “Go-To Thought Leadership” Awards.

The firm’s attention and response to the COVID-19 pandemic have been acclaimed by the National Law Review. “The need for reliable and timely legal news continued in 2021, due to the unprecedented number of new laws, regulations and court cases related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Remote working became a way of life and face to face events are still rare, so our contributing authors found the National Law Review’s unparalleled reach kept them top of mind with clients and prospects alike,” said Jennifer Schaller, Managing Director of the National Law Review.

Band was named a “Go-To Thought Leader” for his 2021 publication discussing the constantly-evolving U.S. COVID-19 travel bans while answering critical questions for visa holders and international travelers. The article reached a significant readership due to its thoughtful guidance and its relevance to the ongoing global pandemic.

The Immigration practice at Hunton Andrews Kurth detailed Biden Administration’s September 2021 announcement to end various travel restrictions—indicating the potential end of National Interest Exceptions in the near future. The article, “Biden’s Covid Team Announces Travel Restrictions to Be Lifted in November,” authored by Associate Shaena Rowland and edited by Counsel Suzan Kern, explained a wide array of policy changes and contributed to the practice award. As a result, the National Law Review has awarded this practice group with a Go-To Thought Leadership award in the field of immigration law.
