Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP partner Meghan Podolny has been appointed to serve as Vice Chair of the The Sedona Conference’s Working Group 1 Steering Committee, which is focused on developing principles, guidance and best practice recommendations for information governance, and electronic discovery in the context of litigation, dispute resolution, and investigations.

Podolny will assume her new role on January 1, 2026, for a one-year term, with the expectation that she will become Chair for a two-year term beginning January 1, 2027. She is completing her second year on the WG1 Steering Committee where she leads the Publications subcommittee.

She also served as team lead on both the Brainstorming Group and the Drafting Team for the Commentary on Privilege Logs. Podolny has been a regular dialogue leader at WG1 meetings and webinars, including in recent years, on case law updates, privilege log commentary, database principles, and recovery of costs.

In a statement announcing Podolny’s appointment, The Sedona Conference said:

“As a longtime WG1 participant, Meghan has demonstrated exceptional organizational and leadership skills, and she has made extraordinary contributions to The Sedona Conference’s original working group.”

Podolny serves as head of Hunton’s Information Governance & eDiscovery Group, providing strategic legal advice and counseling to corporate clients across multiple industries on eDiscovery planning for complex commercial, high-profile litigation matters and information governance initiatives. She also advises corporate clients on the development of tailored protocols to streamline discovery preparation and response while controlling costs and leveraging existing infrastructure.

The Sedona Conference (TSC) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit charitable 501(c)(3) research and educational institute dedicated to the advanced study of law and policy in the areas of complex litigation, intellectual property rights, data security and privacy, and artificial intelligence and the law. Its mission is to move the law forward in a reasoned and just way.
